FAQ

Why can't I see this year's artworks?

Because they have not been announced yet. The official artwork programme is published by the City of Lyon in October or November. The app never shows a presumed artwork: until the programme is out, it shows only the locations that host the event every year, and says so explicitly. As soon as the official programme is published, the app is updated location by location.

Where do the closing times and transport details come from?

From official communications by the City of Lyon and TCL for the current edition. They are indicative and may change up to the last minute: on site, signage and instructions from staff always take precedence.

Does the app work without a network?

Mostly yes: locations, times, the route and the map are bundled or cached. A connection is needed on first launch to generate the map, and for any purchase.

How is my route calculated?

From your answers: the evening you picked, your profile (family, pair, solo), how much time you have and your starting point. Stops are ordered by actual proximity, with estimated walking times and an alert whenever moving from one stop to the next depends on a footbridge that may be closed.

Can I choose the locations myself?

Yes. In the Explore tab, each location has an "Include in my route" switch. As soon as you change one, your route is recalculated with exactly your selection. A button restores the automatic route.

Is the purchase a subscription?

No. It is a one-time purchase, valid for life for your Apple Account, with no renewal. A launch price applies until 1 December 2026; a purchase made at that price stays valid afterwards at no extra cost.

What is free and what is paid?

Free: the list of locations and their pages, the map with stations, footbridges and car parks, practical information, the first stop of your route, and reminders. Paid: the full detail of the following stops (walking times and footbridge alerts between each stop) and the end-of-evening assistant.

I changed phone, how do I get my purchase back?

Open the app, then Settings (icon at the top right) and "Restore purchases", using the same Apple Account you bought with.

I'm not getting reminders

Check that the "Reminders" switch is on in the app's Settings, then that notifications are allowed for the app in iOS Settings. If you declined once, iOS will not ask again: you have to re-enable them from iOS Settings.

Is this the official app?

No. It is an independent app, neither affiliated with nor endorsed by the City of Lyon or the organisers of the Fête des Lumières.
