Privacy Policy — Potago

Last updated: 2026-08-12

1. Summary

Your garden plan, growing journal and photos stay stored on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, are synced only between your own devices via CloudKit (Apple). None of that goes through our servers. Two cases involve separate data collection:

  1. Location, used only to calculate your sowing calendar — never transmitted off your device.
  2. Anonymous usage statistics (PostHog): which screens are viewed, with no garden data or personal data.

2. Data collected

Gardening data (local storage and personal iCloud)

The Potago app records:

  • Your gardens and beds layout, planted crops, dates, growing journal and associated photos
  • Your care reminders (watering, transplanting, harvest)

This data is stored on your iPhone via SwiftData. If you're signed in to iCloud, it is synced between your own devices via CloudKit (Apple), a service managed by Apple that we have no direct access to the content of. This data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for advertising purposes.

Location

With your explicit permission, Potago may use your one-time location to calculate a sowing calendar offset suited to your latitude. This location:

  • Is never transmitted to a server, to us, or to any third party
  • Is not stored as history and is not tracked continuously
  • Can be declined: you may instead pick a reference city from a list, with the same level of accuracy

Anonymous usage data (analytics)

We use PostHog to improve the app. PostHog collects only:

  • Screens viewed
  • Usage actions (e.g. planting, opening the paywall)

This data is associated with a locally generated random identifier, with no link to your identity or your garden's content. PostHog never receives your garden plan, journal, photos, or location.

3. Third-party services and infrastructure

  • PostHog (posthog.com) — anonymous usage analytics (section 2), hosted in the European Union.
  • Apple CloudKit — syncs your data between your own devices, only if you're signed in to iCloud. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
  • Apple App Store / StoreKit — manages the Potago Plus subscription and the previous one-time purchase.

No advertising trackers, no social media integrations, no third-party monetization SDKs.

4. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data about them.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification and deletion directly from the app (deleting a garden, a bed, or photos) or by uninstalling the app. For any further request, contact the developer (section 6).

6. Contact

For any question about this privacy policy, contact the developer at the address below.
