Terms of Use — Codice

Last updated: August 23, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Codice application (the "Application"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms of use. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the Application.

2. Service description

Codice is an iOS mobile application for calculating and decoding the Italian codice fiscale (Italy's tax identification code) using the public algorithm from the Agenzia delle Entrate: last name, first name, date of birth, sex, and place of birth (Italian municipalities or foreign country). It also includes a history of verifications (Cronologia) and a family address book (Famiglia).

3. License

Alexandre Paul grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Application on iOS devices you own or control, in accordance with App Store usage rules. This license is also subject to Apple's standard End User License Agreement, available at: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

4. Subscription

Codice offers an auto-renewable subscription, "Codice Premium" (monthly, identifier com.codice.app.premium.monthly, or annual, identifier com.codice.app.premium.annual), with a transparent 7-day free trial. The subscription unlocks: unlimited Famiglia (beyond 3 saved family members), Face ID lock for Famiglia and Cronologia, and unlimited Cronologia delle verifiche. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your Apple account settings. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. This purchase is managed exclusively by the Apple App Store under its own terms. Refund requests are handled by Apple, not by Alexandre Paul.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to:

  • Not use the Application for illegal or fraudulent purposes;
  • Not attempt to decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the Application;
  • Not circumvent technical protections, including those related to the subscription;
  • Not use the Application in a way that could damage, disable, or overburden a system.

6. Intellectual property

The Application, its code, graphics, name, and visual identity belong to Alexandre Paul and are protected by intellectual property laws. Data you enter (saved family members, history) remains your exclusive property.

7. No warranty

The Application is provided "as is" and "as available", without any express or implied warranty, including fitness for a particular purpose, error-free operation, or continuity of service. You use the Application at your own risk.

8. Unofficial nature

Codice is an independent application. It is not affiliated with the Agenzia delle Entrate, the Italian State, or any administrative authority. The codice fiscale calculated or decoded by the Application is provided for informational purposes only ("Calcolo indicativo"). Only the official document issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate is authoritative. You remain solely responsible for verifying your codice fiscale with official bodies, in particular via agenziaentrate.gov.it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable French law, Alexandre Paul's liability is limited to the amount actually paid for the subscription over the past 12 months. Under no circumstances shall Alexandre Paul be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages related to the use or inability to use the Application, including a decision made based on a calculated codice fiscale that turns out to be inaccurate (unresolved homocodia cases, see the in-app explanation on the result screen).

10. Personal data

The processing of your data is described in Codice's privacy policy. Your personal data (Famiglia, Cronologia) remains stored locally on your device; only anonymized usage data is transmitted for product improvement purposes.

11. Changes to these terms

Alexandre Paul reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. The most recent version will be made available within the Application or via its App Store listing. Continued use of the Application after a modification constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute relating to their interpretation or execution shall fall within the jurisdiction of the French courts, subject to mandatory rules applicable to consumers.
