1. Summary

Wavio is a weather app for board sports and fishing. It stores your spots, sports and settings, and fetches forecasts from weather data providers. The data you enter is stored locally on your device. The app only collects anonymous usage data (screens viewed, actions taken) to improve the experience.

2. Data collected

Wavio stores your data exclusively on your device via SwiftData (a local database encrypted by iOS). It is never sent to a developer server, never shared with third parties, never used for advertising. It only leaves your device if you export it yourself or through your personal iCloud backup. Deleting the app permanently erases all local data.

Anonymous usage data

We use PostHog to improve the app. PostHog only collects anonymous events (screens viewed, usage actions), the app version, device type and iOS version. This data is tied to a random, locally generated identifier with no link to your identity. PostHog never receives the content you enter.

3. Location

The app uses your location only while in use, to show nearby items and, where relevant, to locate the points you save. Your location is not tracked in the background, is not kept by the developer and is never shared with an advertising network. No personal data is placed in a URL. You can revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Third-party services

The app uses PostHog (posthog.com) for the anonymous usage analytics described above. Data is hosted in Europe (EU) and processing is GDPR-compliant. PostHog receives no health data, no personal data and no information that could identify you.

The app also queries weather data providers (including Open-Meteo, CC BY 4.0 license) to obtain wind, swell and tide forecasts. Only the queried spot coordinates are sent, with no personal identifier.

No advertising tracker, no social network integration, no third-party monetization SDK.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

Since your data is stored locally on your device and no personally identifiable data is sent to our infrastructure, we hold no data about you. You exercise your rights of access, rectification and erasure directly from the app or by uninstalling it.

7. Disclaimer

Wavio provides forecasts for guidance only. Tides are computed by harmonics and must not be used for navigation. You remain solely responsible for assessing safety before any session; the developer cannot be held liable for a decision based on the app.

8. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13.
