Privacy Policy — Streetfishing

1. Summary

Streetfishing is a fishing log app: sessions, catches, species, spots and statistics. Your fishing data (catches, spots, photos) is stored locally on your device. Three data flows leave the device, all anonymous or limited to the strict minimum:

Anonymous usage statistics (PostHog).
Approximate position sent to Open-Meteo to compute the barometric pressure window favorable to fishing.
Approximate position sent to GBIF (public scientific database) to confirm a species' presence in your area.

No data is sold, none is used for advertising. The app has no account, no login, and no server of its own.

2. Data collected

Fishing data (local storage)

Streetfishing stores locally (via SwiftData, on your device only):

Your fishing sessions (date, duration, associated spot)
Your catches (species, size, weight, lure used, optional photo)
Your saved spots (name, GPS coordinates)
Your app preferences

This data is never sent to a developer server and is never shared with any third party.

Catch photos

If you photograph a catch, the photo is saved exclusively in the app's local storage (the app's Documents folder, on your device). It is never transmitted to a server, to the developer, or to any third party. You can delete it from the app or by uninstalling it.

Location

The app requests access to your location ("while using the app") for two purposes:

Saving your fishing spots and showing them on a map — fully local processing, your position is never sent anywhere for this purpose.
Computing a favorable barometric pressure window: your position (latitude/longitude) is sent to the public weather service Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to obtain local atmospheric pressure data. Open-Meteo never receives your identity or the content of your fishing log.
Confirming the likely presence of a species in your area: an approximate area around your position (roughly a 0.5° margin, i.e. several dozen kilometers) is sent to GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility, api.gbif.org), a public and open scientific biodiversity database, to check whether a species has already been observed there. GBIF never receives your identity, your catches, or the content of your log.

Both requests are anonymous and one-off: they contain no identifier about you and are not linked to each other or to a user profile.

Anonymous usage data (analytics)

We use PostHog to improve the app. PostHog only collects anonymous events (screens viewed, actions taken: session started/ended, catch logged, species unlocked, paywall shown), the app version and device type. This data is tied to a random, locally generated identifier with no link to your identity. PostHog never receives the content of your catches, your photos, or your precise location.

3. Third-party services

PostHog (posthog.com) — anonymous usage analytics, hosted in the European Union.
Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — public weather service, receives a one-off approximate position to compute local atmospheric pressure.
GBIF (gbif.org) — public scientific biodiversity database, receives a one-off approximate area to confirm species presence.

No advertising tracker, no social media integration, no third-party monetization SDK, no server of our own.

4. Streetfishing Premium subscription

Purchase and management of the Streetfishing Premium subscription are handled directly by Apple through your App Store account. No payment information is collected or stored by Streetfishing.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

Since your fishing data is stored locally, you access, modify and delete it directly from the app. Uninstalling the app permanently erases all local data. We do not hold any personally identifiable data on any server. For any request, contact the developer (section 6).

6. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13 and does not collect any data about them.
