1. Summary

Licko is a jazz improvisation training app. The phrases you save, your settings and your practice progress are stored locally on your device, with no iCloud sync. The app only collects anonymous usage data (screens viewed, actions taken) to improve the experience.

2. Data collected

Licko stores your data exclusively on your device via SwiftData (a local database encrypted by iOS), with no iCloud synchronization. It is never sent to a developer server, never shared with third parties, never used for advertising. It only leaves your device if you export it yourself (MIDI, PDF, MusicXML) or through your personal iCloud backup of the device. Deleting the app permanently erases all local data.

Anonymous usage data

We use PostHog to improve the app. PostHog only collects anonymous events (screens viewed, usage actions), the app version, device type and iOS version. This data is tied to a random, locally generated identifier with no link to your identity. PostHog never receives the content of the phrases you create or save.

Search ads attribution

Licko uses Apple's own attribution service (AdServices) to learn, once at install, whether the app was downloaded through an Apple Search Ads campaign. This mechanism uses no advertising identifier (IDFA) and triggers no App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt: it is handled directly by Apple under its own rules.

3. Permissions

The app requests no system permission: no camera, no photos, no microphone, no location, no contacts, no HealthKit.

4. Exporting your phrases

Licko lets you export saved phrases as MIDI, PDF or MusicXML (Premium feature). These files are created on your device and only leave it if you choose to share them through your iPhone's native share sheet (Files, email, AirDrop, a notation app, etc.). Licko hosts no server and creates no public link.

5. Third-party services

The app uses PostHog (posthog.com) for the anonymous usage analytics described above, and Apple AdServices for search ads attribution. Data is hosted in Europe (EU) for PostHog and processing is GDPR-compliant. No advertising tracker, no social network integration, no third-party monetization SDK.

6. Subscription (Licko Premium)

Licko Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, handled by Apple through your App Store account. No payment data is collected or stored by Licko itself.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

Since your data is stored locally on your device and no personally identifiable data is sent to our infrastructure, we hold no data about you. You exercise your rights of access, rectification and erasure directly from the app or by uninstalling it.

8. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13.
