Privacy Policy — Gulpo
Version 1.0 — effective from 2026-05-28
Who we are
Gulpo is an iOS mobile application developed and distributed as an independent application. For any question about this policy, contact us at the address listed on the App Store page, or at alexandre-paul@outlook.com.
Data concerning a minor
Gulpo is intended exclusively for use by parents and legal guardians to track their infant's bottle feedings. The App is not addressed to children, and no data is collected from the child. The information entered (child's first name, volumes, times) is entered by the parent or legal guardian.
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), article 9 (health data) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we apply the highest level of protection to this data.
What data is processed?
The App stores the following information:
| Data | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Baby's first name | Personalization | Local device + private iCloud (see "Data transmission") |
| Bottle timestamps | Chronological tracking | Local device + private iCloud |
| Volume in milliliters per bottle | Totals and statistics | Local device + private iCloud |
| Milk type (formula / breast milk / growth) | Bottle categorization | Local device + private iCloud |
| Growth measurements (weight, height) | Growth tracking (Gulpo+ feature) | Local device + private iCloud |
| Display preferences | Night mode, share footer | Local device (UserDefaults) |
| App usage metrics (screens viewed, features used, a logged bottle's volume/milk type) | Product improvement | PostHog server (European Union) |
No other data is collected. The child's first name, personal notes, and the exact content of a shared recap are never sent to PostHog.
Data transmission
Gulpo transmits data in three specific cases, described below. Outside of these cases, nothing leaves your device.
1. iCloud sync (Apple) Bottle-feeding and growth data is automatically synced with the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple ID, to stay up to date across your devices (iPhone, iPad). This sync is provided and secured by Apple; Gulpo does not operate its own server and hosts no data outside of iCloud.
2. Sharing with another parent (optional, Gulpo+ feature) If you voluntarily enable sharing for a child, that child's data (first name, bottles, growth measurements) becomes accessible to the Apple ID you invite, via CloudKit (CKShare). Nothing is shared without this explicit action on your part, and you can stop sharing at any time.
3. Pseudonymous usage metrics (PostHog) Gulpo sends pseudonymous usage events (screen viewed, bottle logged with its volume and milk type, growth measurement added, paywall shown) to the PostHog analytics service, hosted in the European Union. These events are used solely to improve the app's reliability and usability.
- No advertising, no ad network, no reselling of data.
- No cookies and no cross-app or cross-site advertising tracking (no use of App Tracking Transparency).
- Your baby's first name, personal notes, and the exact content of a shared recap are never sent to PostHog.
- No crash logs tied to your identity.
Sharing via the "Recap" feature (PDF/image export) is an explicit voluntary action on your part using the native iOS system. Gulpo has no access to recipients or to the content shared after the action.
Encryption and security
All App data is protected by NSFileProtectionComplete: it is encrypted with the device's hardware key and inaccessible while the device is locked. This protection is provided by iOS.
Retention
Data is retained as long as the App is installed. You may delete individual bottle entries within the App at any time.
Data deletion
To delete all data:
- Delete bottles or measurements individually within the App, or
- Uninstall Gulpo from your iOS device.
Uninstalling permanently removes local data, including the SwiftData database and UserDefaults preferences. The copy synced to your private iCloud database is not automatically deleted by Apple: reinstalling Gulpo with the same Apple ID will restore it. To also delete that iCloud copy, go to iOS Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage, or contact us.
Data subject rights (GDPR)
As a parent or legal guardian acting on behalf of a minor, you have the following GDPR rights:
- Right of access: your data is visible directly in the App.
- Right of rectification: editable directly in the App.
- Right to erasure: deletion by uninstalling the App.
- Right to portability: the "Share recap" feature lets you export a summary.
- Right to object: you can disable Gulpo's iCloud sync from iOS Settings > [your name] > iCloud, or contact us for any question about PostHog usage metrics.
Bottle-feeding records are managed on your device and in your private iCloud, under your control.
Medical disclaimer
The information shown in Gulpo is provided for informational purposes. It does not constitute medical advice. Always consult a healthcare professional for any question about your child's feeding.
Changes to this policy
In case of a material change to this policy, a notice will be shown in the App before it takes effect. The version date at the top of this document will be updated.
