Privacy Policy — Codice

Last updated: August 23, 2026

1. Summary

Codice is an application for calculating and decoding the Italian codice fiscale, running mainly on your iPhone. The calculation algorithm, the Italian municipality dataset (Belfiore), and the data you enter stay on your device. Codice uses an anonymized usage analytics service (PostHog) to understand feature usage, and Apple's StoreKit for subscription management.

2. Data stored locally

Codice exclusively stores the following information, on your device only (SwiftData):

Data Storage Use
First name, last name, date of birth, sex, place of birth of saved family members (Famiglia) Local (SwiftData) Calculating and recalling the codice fiscale
Calculated or decoded codice fiscale Local (SwiftData) Display, copy, share
History of verifications (Cronologia) Local (SwiftData) Recall of previous calculations and decodings
Face ID lock preference Local (UserDefaults) Protecting access to Famiglia and Cronologia

3. Usage data collected (PostHog)

Codice uses the PostHog SDK to measure app usage in aggregate: app opened, onboarding completed, codice calculated or saved, paywall shown, subscription purchased. These events contain no identity data (no name, no codice fiscale, no date of birth). They are used solely for product improvement and are not used for advertising targeting ("Tracking" disabled, see PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy).

4. Data not collected

Codice does not collect:

  • Your GPS location
  • Your advertising identifier (IDFA)
  • Biometric data (Face ID is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication; no biometric data passes through Codice or PostHog)
  • Contact information

5. Network

Codice makes network requests limited to two purposes: sending anonymized usage events to PostHog, and communication strictly necessary for subscription management via StoreKit (Apple). There is no server or backend belonging to Codice.

6. Subscription

Codice offers an auto-renewable subscription ("Codice Premium", monthly or annual) managed exclusively by the Apple App Store under its own terms. Refund requests are handled by Apple, not by Alexandre Paul.

7. Backups

Your data may be backed up via iCloud Backup or iTunes/Finder if you have enabled these iOS features. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not Codice's.

8. Rights

Since your personal data (Famiglia, Cronologia) stays on your device, you can at any time:

  • Edit or delete a saved family member in Famiglia
  • Delete the full history from Impostazioni > Cronologia > "Cancella cronologia"
  • Delete all data by uninstalling the app

9. Contact

For any privacy-related question, you can reach us at alexandre-paul@outlook.com.

10. Compliance

This application complies with:

  • GDPR regulation (personal data kept locally, no sale to third parties)
  • Apple's App Store Review Guidelines on privacy
  • The PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy file declaring usage data collection via PostHog (Product Interaction, Other Usage Data), with no advertising tracking

Codice is an independent application. It is not affiliated with the Agenzia delle Entrate, the Italian State, or any administrative authority. The calculated codice fiscale is provided for informational purposes only; only the official document issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate is authoritative.
