Privacy Policy — Canicule Bébé

Last updated: 2026-07-31

Summary

Canicule Bébé helps you know whether your child is safe from heat, at home and while out. Information about your child, your home, and your logs (hydration, naps, outings, observed signs) is stored only on your device. Your location is used to estimate the felt weather near you. Canicule Bébé also uses an anonymous usage analytics tool (PostHog) to improve the app, described below.

1. Who we are

Canicule Bébé is an iOS mobile app for heat safety for babies and young children, published by an independent developer, Alexandre Paul. Contact: alexandre-paul@outlook.com.

2. Data stored

The following is stored exclusively on your device (UserDefaults, including a space shared with the app's lock-screen widget, never sent to a server):

Data Purpose
Child profile(s) (first name, age range) Calculate heat thresholds specific to each child
Home profile(s) (floor, orientation, room temperature readings) Estimate and project indoor temperature
Hydration journal, nap journal, stroller outing journal Show your history and trends
Observed warning signs Show history per child

This data is never sent to the developer's server, never shared with third parties, never used for advertising. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all local data.

3. Location

Canicule Bébé requests access to your location ("While Using") to estimate the real felt weather near you, by querying the public weather service Open-Meteo (GPS coordinates sent to Open-Meteo, no other data). Open-Meteo is a free, open-source third-party service, no account or identifier required. Your location is never sent to the developer's server or shared with any third party other than Open-Meteo for weather estimation only.

4. System permissions

Canicule Bébé may request access to your location (see section 3) and permission to send notifications, only when tomorrow's forecast justifies a heat alert. No other system permission is required.

5. Pediatrician PDF export

The PDF export feature (Premium) generates a summary of your logs entirely on your device, with no server involved. The file is shared through iOS's native share sheet (Mail, Files, AirDrop, etc.) — you alone decide where it goes.

6. Anonymous usage analytics (PostHog)

Canicule Bébé uses PostHog to understand how the app is used and improve it. PostHog is an open-source tool, hosted on European (EU) servers, GDPR-compliant.

  • Data collected: anonymous usage events (e.g. nap started, outing completed, paywall shown, purchase made), without any child's first name, precise location or entered content.
  • Data not collected: first name, precise GPS location, advertising identifier (IDFA).

This data is linked to a random identifier generated at install, which does not allow you to be identified. It is never used for advertising or shared with third parties. No advertising network, no other tracking tool.

7. Purchases

The Canicule Bébé Premium subscription is processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. The publisher of Canicule Bébé never sees or stores your payment information.

8. Safety content always free

Real-time heat status, nap mode, the stroller outing checklist, the hydration journal, the home heatwave checklist and warning signs are safety content: they remain freely accessible, no subscription required, regardless of your Premium status.

9. Retention and deletion

You can delete a child's profile from the app at any time: this erases their associated history. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data.

10. Minors

Canicule Bébé is designed to be used by a parent or legal guardian about their child. It does not target minors as direct users of the app and collects no sensitive data beyond what is described above.

11. Changes

In the event of a substantial change to this policy, the update date at the top of this document will be revised.
