Privacy Policy — Bercio

Version 1.0 — effective September 4, 2026

Who we are

Bercio is an iOS mobile app developed and distributed as an independent app. For any question about this policy, contact us at the address listed on the App Store page.

Data about a minor

Bercio is intended exclusively for parents and legal guardians to track their baby's feedings, diapers and sleep. The app is not addressed directly to children, and no data is collected from the child. Information entered (child's first name, birth date, timestamps, durations) is entered by the parent or guardian.

In line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Article 9 (health data) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we apply the highest level of protection to this data.

What data is processed?

The app records the following information:

Data Purpose Storage location
Baby's first name and birth date Interface personalization and age calculation Local device only
Feeding timestamps, durations and breastfeeding side Chronological tracking Local device only
Diaper timestamps and types Chronological tracking Local device only
Sleep timestamps and durations Chronological tracking Local device only
Language preference Interface display Local device (UserDefaults)
App usage measurements (screens viewed, features used, paywall opened) Product improvement PostHog server (European Union)

No other data is collected. The child's first name and precise timestamps are never sent to PostHog.

Data transmission

Bercio transmits data in two specific cases, described below. Outside of these cases, nothing leaves your device.

1. Handoff with the other parent (optional feature) If you use the co-parent handoff feature, a text summary of the current status (next breastfeeding side, last feeding, ongoing sleep, today's counters) is shared by you, voluntarily, through iOS's native share system (Messages, Mail, or any other app of your choice). Bercio has no access to the recipients or the content after the share action.

2. Pseudonymized usage measurements (PostHog) Bercio sends pseudonymized usage events (screen viewed, feeding or diaper logged, paywall opened) to the PostHog analytics service, hosted in the European Union. These events are used only to improve the app's reliability and usability.

  • No advertising, no ad network, no reselling of data.
  • No cookies or cross-app/cross-site advertising tracking (no use of App Tracking Transparency).
  • The baby's first name and the exact content of a shared handoff are never sent to PostHog.
  • No crash logs tied to your identity.

Bercio does not sync any data via iCloud or a proprietary server: all tracking data stays stored locally on your device.

Encryption and security

App data is protected by iOS's built-in file-protection mechanisms and remains local to your device.

Retention period

Data is kept for as long as the app is installed on your device. You can delete individual entries in the app at any time.

Deleting your data

To delete all your data:

  1. Delete feedings, diapers or sleep sessions individually in the app, or
  2. Uninstall Bercio from your iOS device.

Uninstalling permanently deletes all local data, including the SwiftData store and UserDefaults preferences. No copy is retained anywhere else.

Data subject rights (GDPR)

As a parent or legal guardian acting on behalf of a minor, you have the following rights under GDPR:

  • Right of access: your data is visible directly in the app.
  • Right of rectification: editable directly in the app.
  • Right to erasure: deletion by uninstalling the app.
  • Right to portability: the "Handoff" feature lets you export a summary.
  • Right to object: contact us with any question about PostHog usage measurements.

Tracking data is managed on your device, under your exclusive control.

Medical disclaimer

Information displayed in Bercio is provided for informational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice. Always consult a healthcare professional for any question about your child.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes substantially, a notification will be shown in the app before the change takes effect. The version date at the top of this document will be updated.
